retrofit problem

Hi everyone,
Just completed a virgin retrofit in my 2001 X5 installing the 16:9 monitor, CD changer and MK4 dvd drive. Still waiting for my radio tuner to turn up from ebay. I thought I would get themajor part done follwed all the instructions in the forum here and everything turns on and the on board computer reads everything ok.The only problem I have is that I cannot change the mode to the CD changer.It does not recognise that there is a cd changer attached to it.Is this because I have not installed the radio tuner yet? Or is there another issue. Also I am in Australia and the unit came from the USA, will I have to recode the unit?Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Without the head unit it has nothing to module to.
If I am understanding you correctly. Still will prob have to recode it.

I have installed the 16:9 monitor and the nav drive and had the CD changer working in the car previously with my original business CD radio.I thought that the CD changer unit would still work without the radio tuner module which I am waiting to come.
