Unusual problem

Does anyone have this probem? The other day I was driving X5 (2001 3.0i with 67,000 (bought CPO)) Four lights showed up on dash: EML, brake, antilock and stability control light (the one in the center) then I noticed SAV wouldn't accelerate as well like something holding it back. I stopped vehicle and restarted it. Lights went away and SAV drove fine. It has happened several times since without any long term problems. I used code reader/scanner and no codes came up. Any clue? Thanks.

Allentown, huh? I work in the LV!

Anyways, it sounds just like the problem I had last month. It may have something to do with the DCS??

I know others here may be able to explain a lot better than myself. But to make a long story short my baby was at the dealer for a couple of days.

Sounds like it could be a wheel sensor going bad.

I had this same thing happen with my 2001 LandRover......dealer fixed...result was a bad wheel sensor. Don't know if this will help or not. I did receive all the same warnings on the dash of my LR though...

Cheers!

Just picked my 01 x5 from the dealer. It was a cpo repair for this problem. This was the second time. The last time it was a wheel sensor. This time it was the abs module. I don't know if this was it or the dealer wanted the cpo to pay for a more expensive repair. They stated that the abs module is an $800usd part.

It sound like one of the wheel sensors know by BMW as a pulse generator. Its a very simple DIY Job but you first need to find out which sensor has gone. The the front sensors are different from the rear, but they are the same for left and right.
