[QUOTE=ncx]Ok, my resonator is 27 3/4" long. Hope that helps.

Thats great!!! Many thanks. I have another question though. I take it you actually cut the pipes away from the resonator that come from the engine side? Because if you look at this pic, the resonator is actually a bit longer when the pipes are intact.
THE PIPES I'M REFERING TOO ARE LEADING FROM THE LEFT OF THE PIC

Th replacement resonator does appear to come with a section of pipe attached so that it can easily be welded into the OEM exhaust system. There is more pipe on the engine side and a few inches on the rear side as you can see from your diagram. If you look at the pics below you can see that I just cut the resonator out and left as much pipe in place as possible. This allowed the addition of only straight pipe, no bends, so it was quick, cheap, and easy to do.

I have noticed zero loss of torque, but I have an xpipe.

Cutting off resonator

Here you can see the xpipe going in. You can use just straight pipe if you are looking for a more raw sound.

Removing the resonator is the least expensive way to get a louder exhaust note. Aftermarket exhaust is still going to sound better. If you are looking for a real growl, check out Eisenhaus Race. There are sound clips on here somewhere. It is a beast but sounds like beautiful music to me.

Ok the X is booked in to have this done tomorrow so I will let you all know how it goes!

I'm having custom made, stainless straight pipes installed.

Based on this comment about the X pipe video "Der soun on du car is crap du scwhanz" the stright pipes are a better option.
