604x5 is on a distinguished road
x5 gauge cluster

HI

I was wonderin if ne1 has takin apart a bmw x5 gauge cluster to add the chrome rings and the bezel, i tryed yesterday for like 2 hours to pull apart the thing but i couldnt do it. If ne1 knows how this thing comes apart please help me and let me know

I don't have time to post better pics- did you search the forums for other threads about the gauge rings? Some useful info there as well.

There is a trick which JV explains in his article. I did mine 18month ago and I too had to think twice about how to get this damned thing apart.

ya i read all the info that u guys wrote on the forums but i still cant get the thing open, i would pay money to see someone open this thing.

those damn X looking things are a b***h to get at and they wont stay turned

i dont know im gonna try it tomorrow if u guys can give me some more info on how to do it that would be great

You have to turn those X tabs twice as far as they need to go, as they are flexible and will flex back some once you turn them. For instance, if you imagine the face of an analog clock, and you wanted to turn the hands to 9, you'd have to turn them to 12 and they'd flex back to 9.
