Sub Woofer needed for non DSP X5

I was thinking of upgrading the stock speakers but I actually don't mind them. The problem is the bass. I went to the JL website and they don't list the Stealthbox for the X5. What else would work with not too much modification please?

Thanks,

Gary

One of the sponsors of this board makes a custom sub. I have it, and it is great!

Check them out HERE

Alpine PLV-7
$500, lots of power and it is very small

A member on this board installed it and it looks nice.

I have a Basslink II.
It has half the power of the PL-V at half the cost.

Lookwise and performance the PLV-7 is the way to go.

Search the forums for PLV-7 and you will see his setup.

JL Audio Stealthbox is available for your X5. Contact your local JL dealer if that is your preference. It is brand new and is not on the website yet.

depends on what you want...do you want something that is hidden or you don't mind taking up trunk space? also, do you like booming bass or just enough to fill in the low end? i have the Alpine PLV-7 that Aimster mentioned. it does take up some trunk space, but not as much as comparable systems. you also don't need to worry about mounting the amp because it's all part of the box. you can find it on ebay for about $560 shipped, but it doesn't come with a warranty because the seller is not an authorized Alpine dealer. Crutchfield is the only authorized online dealer and they have it for $700. if the PLV-7 is something you think you'd like, check your local stereo shops and see what deal you can bargain, unless you don't mind spending $500 on something without a warranty.

OK...I went to my local JL Audio dealer. They haven't heard of the Stealthbox so they called the JL Audio rep and he hadn't heard of it either.. but I know some of you got them?

My local dealer can order them, so I am sure yours can. PM me if you want some email addresses of the sales crew at JL. Really, just tell your dealer to ask for Don V. (edited out name) for the scoop.

SKU# is 94280 aka SB-B-X5.

Aftermarket Setup

Im very pleased with my current set up. Im running two 10" diamond subs off an Alpine MRD-M50l amp thats putting out roughly 450 Watts RMS. If your looking for a lot of boom and bass then i would suggest going with aftermarket set up like mine.
