Upper Console Disassembly

Can anyone help me take apart/gut the upper level of the console storage box? I don't find it useful and would like to be able to use the space inside. Ideally this could be done in a way such that the interior bits could be replaced and returned to stock.

I didn't have much trouble removing the center, dark piece, but couldn't get much further (or rather didn't want to break anything).

Any help would be appreciated.

You mean the part where the phone cradle is? Search the forums- some members have modded that piece.
