Talking Bluetooth question

I recently purchased my first BMW and its an X5. I am loving it!!
Quick question on the bloothtooth function. I have the standard audio BMW buisness CD without Navigation. The bluetooth feature allows me to upload my phonebook from my blackberry, but I cannot place a call using the "name" feature. If I wanted to call a friend, I have to physically dial all 10 digits (to include the area code), instead of pressing his name.

Everytime, I try to use the "name" feature and push the small phone icon (on my radio) the phone number will not dial by name even though the persons name/phone number appears on the radio display. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong but my procedure seems to follow what is stated in the manual. Just wanted to see if anyone experienced similar issues.

Thanks and great forum. I am addicted

Personally I use the steering wheel buttons to do the dialing. Press the R/T button, scroll through the list using the ^ and V buttons, and when you see the name you wish to dial then push the button that looks like an icon of a speaking face. Push the speaking face button again to end the call.

I have a 3.0 2006 X5.

I have tried to use the steering wheel buttons using the R/T button and the button that looks like an icon of a speaking face. When I do that a voice starts to say "Please speak the number you wish to dial"

But all I want is for the car to dial the number I already selected!

I am wondering if there is an issue with the bluetooth that I need to see the dealer about.

It sounds like you are pressing and holding the speaking face button. Just press and release it quickly.

I tried to press and release quickly, but nothing happened. That is why I held it down.

But I will def try that again, making sure to release quickly. Thanks for the suggestion.
