How will straight pipes or X pipes with a stock exhaust sound on a 3.0? Good?

Guys,
more interested in hp increase...here in local forum I've heard that X-pipe increasing the hp more than Straight Pipes...

"X-Pipes for V8 is much better. More HP in 4000+ rpm. And sound is more smooth and bassy with a little rumble effect"

still hesitate...need your advise...

Priority#1 - HP!
Changing to an x-pipe will not increase your hp. If anything, you will notice a decrease in power. It will just make your stock exhuast sound better. If your main goal is hp increase, I would look into a whole new exhuast system. My $.02.

what makes u say that changing to an x-pipe will decrease power... if anything i always looked at as getting an aftermarket resonator

I am actually not sure what it will or will not do. I was mentioning what I observed with straight pipes.

Both replace the stock resonator seen here:



From what i know, the xpipe will increase the sound but also keep some backpressure so you dont lose any power. Here is an xpipe installed:


Straight pipes will give you the most sound, but there have been some reports of loss of power and a rattle during a cold start. Here is some straight pipes installed. Bad pic but you should get the idea.
