I have never seen that done before, I'm not sure it is possible..nor beneficial as it offers nothing to the driver aside from displaying a gear. For manual mode and SMG's it is done to allow a driver to know the gear since they can change the gear at any time. In full auto mode the only option to change a gear is punch the gas or brake.

Nope can't be done. I know the VW Rabbit we test drove before had a terrific 6AT and displayed which gear it was in even in normal D. However, this is a feature of dubious (worthless) value because if you're in automatic mode, who the hell cares whether you're in gear 4 or 3?

Gear

Right...and wrong ! Obviously right but wrong because our X are full of things not really usefull but so pleasant. Showing engaged gear in D could be appreciate to be aware of the automatic gearbox behavior (need an oil change...) or something like that. And it could be nice to have the information ?

How about memorizing the revs? I can figure out which gear my cars are in based on tachometer and speed reading.
