DICE kit installed, is kinda chincey! My report:

I like the fact that it charges, etc. and installed it for my wife in her X5 yesterday. Subsequently I noticed the case unit with the circuit boards inside is misshaped and will not seal completely. In an attempt to flip the tiny switches that engage ipod mode or car mode, one lever just snapped right off! I can't get the display or contols via the X5 radio either. DICE support is reminiscent of Japanese directions translated into English, some make sense, but most of it doesn't. Last but not least, when I turn on the X5 and turn on the radio, I get a loud POP from the speakers as the ipod kit kicks in.

I give DICE a C- for form & fit and a D for function. They do receive an A for ease of installation though. Unsettling to say the least and disappointing as this was an xmas gift.

For ridiculously less money I think the tape adapter and ipod charger is better. After that tape adapter dies just toss it out the window and get another for $1.99. If you gotta spend money on a display adapter go Dension.

Isn't DICE made by Dension??

Anyway, sorry to hear you have had so much trouble. I have to admit mine has a few quirks, but overall I love it. I am just happy that I am able to have this option. My wife's SLK350 with the basic sound system won't even allow for iPod connection.

at least that's what I'm assuming because Dice is on their website.

I just installed a Dice HD unit, and it was very buggy. Strange sounds and functions didn't work properly. You may have a defective product, which if you bought it from EAS, they will happily replace the module for you.

I just got my HD Dice unit and currently just run the cable over the back seat to test everything out.

It is complicated, I have to keep a cheat sheet nearby just to figure out how to switch between next song or next album, etc.

I was unimpressed with the documentation. I also ordered the ipod cable, but recieved no documentation about it. I had to download from their site.

Since nothing was said about where to install the head unit, I am wondering where people installed theirs. If it was up to me, I would leave the unit in the back by the cd changer and then just run a long ipod cable up to the front.

I was also hoping for better viewing on the navigation screen. I thought I would be able to scan through music while a song was playing. I can do this but it has to be on the iPod itself.

I have the Neo iOn version of the "Dice" installed under the console with the cables running back to the CD changer. This version seems to have a similar "manual" as the DICE so it seems that someone is creating their own competition
The iPod cable comes up into the storage box from the bottom so I can leave the iPod out of sight. The sound is great, but it has these problems.

1. The Next and Previous buttons cycle through the first 5/6 playlists/albums but seems to get lost and not get to next after that.
2. When cycling through playlists/albums the Display only shows "PLAYLIST" or "ALBUM", giving no clue as to where its up to in the list.
3. The volume drops temporary when each new songs starts.
4. The Display scrolls showing most of the details of the songs being played but why scroll given the selection of the font (Large) and the space on my nav screen.

What I would like is to see my iPod Screen on the nav screen and for the nav button to control the iPod. Looks like I'll have to get a cradle and use reading specs to see the iPod Screen.

No - Dension and DICE are two separate companies.

Tom G, Has any DICE owner reported similar problems as I ouline in my post above where I'm using Neo iOn "Dice"?
Given how both seem to operate and connect, I tend to think Neo is rebadging??

Any clues?
