It's official. I hate my Benz and want an X5!

I hate this car. It's like driving a horizontal escalator wrapped in bubblepack material. Radio sucks, interior finish is OK at best, and it is uninspiring to behold, even in pearl moonstone metallic grey. Did I mention Benz throttle by wire is even more lame? Response and how you have to hold your leg just so absolutely unnerves me. I sold my beloved M5 and switched, why, again? A new suspension and wheels barely altered a thing.

My wife's new X5 is off limits!

When I can get more toys again, this thing is GONE.

Funny thing is I wouldn't mind having 2 X5s simultaneoulsy, and I've NEVER felt that way about a car. They are just that awesome and I have had everything from Porsches on down to Jeeps.

Rant over.

Agree, my wife's ML500 is like driving on a lake of Jello. Plenty of power, but no control. Nothing drives like a BMW.

Which Benz did you get? The ML? Sorry you don't like it. Look on the bright side, you'll appreciate your BMW all the more when you come back over to this side.

Sold my benz in a record 7 months, hated it. So far the one and only car purchase I was not happy about. I had a 1999 CLK320 and it was a turd from the minute I got it home.

I am sorry that you hate the ML, but in a twisted way, it makes me feel good. I had intended to get an ML500; I had put a deposit down on one shortly after it was announced, and nearly a year before it was being sold. I had an ML as the wallpaper on my computer; I looked for info on lots of websites. Finally, I expect to get mine, and the dealership starts screwing around, saying there were "delays at the factory". After 4 months of being put off, I discover the dealership had traded mine off to another dealer, expecting to string me along for a while. I walked away and got the X5, and am SO glad I did. I love the X5 so much more than the ML's I have driven since they came out.

Funny. Someone on BF ditched his X3 for his ML, and so far he's liking the latter better and saying its more reliable than the X3 he had. We'll see in a few years I guess..........

I have a 2004 S430, and everything goes wrong all the time. I finally gave up taking it to the dealership to have my problems fixed, because they do not fix them, or even make the attempt. They have a policy that they can choose not to look at a problem that they list as already been fixed. So I just let it go, and could not care less anymore.

I saw your post and just had to comment, today I traded in my 2002 E430 for a 2002 X5 3.0 topaz blue with sport package... and all I have to say is boy are you right! I owned the Benz for 8 months and hated it for the past 7 and a half. I honestly believe they have to be the most overrated cars out there period, the thing was a lifeless souless heartless brick on wheels. The X5 drives exactly the way a performance luxury car should, just amazing. The interior is beautiful, elegant, yet tasteful and modern. The controls on the Benz seem as if they came out of the cockpit of a WWII fighter jet... big, stiff and ugly. The "bose" sound system was utterly crappy, the electronics all together were old school and dissapointing. Definitely the worst car purchase Ive ever made, but now Ive recitified that by buying my beautiful bmw. If youre thinking about making the jump let me be the first to tell you DO IT!!!!! I actually lost a pretty good chunk of money on the car having only owned it for 8 months, but in the end it was worth it not to have to drive a car so bland that it drove me nearly insane. I can't wait to get in my bimmer tomorrow morning and drive to work, in style
