Advise on X5 purchase
What I wanted to know is the importance of option packages. I would like the navi package as well as sport package but I've found some X5's without the sport package. Would I be better off just getting a nav package and adding 20" wheels to complete the package? Thanks John |

I think sport package is the real deal. It's not just wheels, its the 3-spoke steering wheel, sport seats (Which are great), and the sport suspension. Of course if you never drive aggressively, you'd think the X5 handles well even without the sport pack. But if you relish throwing a 2.5 ton SUV (SAV) into a corner and pushing it to its absolute limits......the sport pack is a must. Plus it controls all of that V8 power a bit better!

Trust me I have had 3 BMW"S all with the sport package. It is totally worth it IMO...

So what you are saying is forget the nav package and go with the sport package>

I agree!!!! BMW is known for its handling! Sport is definitely a MUST. Keep looking around....Im sure you'll be able to find both a sport and Nav package for a decent price! Whats your budget by the way?????

I'd like to pay about $30k for an 03.
I've found an 04 CPO for $33 but I don't know the options on it yet! John |

Sport Package is a must
Navigation is so-so. You can always upgrade to better navigation systems later and the X5 looks good with or without navigation. If you plan on getting a 2003 , you cannot upgrade your headlights without buying new ones (angel eyes). |

By the way, I ended up paying $28,500 but I had 58,000 miles on the car. I got it last week. Hope this helps. |

I'm getting closer on this purchase and was wondering about aftermarket warranty.
Is it worth it and if so would you purchase the power train only vs. bumper to bumper? John |

I got aftermarket warranty and I would highly recommend it.
Transmission failure alone is 5k Mine was 2.5k for 36,000 miles 3 years. |
