I am hoping the price goes down by the time I get my return back! Another good source to find the stuff for cheaper is www.onlinecarstereo.com ...which may be the direction I go. There is a place here in Houston that will do the install for cheap as long as I let them put pics up on their webpage. Good luck and let us know if you do it!

Did I miss something?

John
The definitive list for the Sports package in the UK was :

1. As above sports alloys (V-spoke style 63 5 spoke 10 J x 19 ") with extra wide tyres 255/50 R10 front & 285/45 R19 rears.
2. 3 spoke sports steering wheel (as above) multi function.
3. As above Sports seats, (electric front seats with driver memory).
4. As above Sport suspension)
5. Anthracite headlining
6. Clear indicator lenses
7. De- chroming
8. Titanium Line Interior trim, ( dark or light poplar zero cost option if selected by first purchaser)
9. Black chrome tailpipes, (certainly on the 4.4is)

As stated - there was no brake upgrade, (as previous point 5)

The UK NAV pack marketed as the "Communications Pack "consisted of :

1. GSM phone ( in the UK this was initially a BMW firmwared Motorola V50 - the firmware of which ensures the phone does not drain the battery if the phone is left plugged into the cradl (later cars came with bluetooth preperation)
2. Satelite Navigation system (DVD optical drive w.e.f 2003)
3. OBM ( minitially 4:3 aspect ratio screen untill 4/01 when replaced by 16:9 splitscreen & widescreeen), incorporating TV ( initially analogue) and text. (the screen displayed all computer functions etc).

Individual components could be selected from the comms pack which was officially all 3 of the above. The Phone option includes SMS text displays and address book functionality etc.

I'm not trying to be clever or to rubbish other input but rather trying to help with accurate info.

Above from my recollection and cross checked from UK info only- individual markets may vary.

What I wanted to know is the importance of option packages.
I would like the navi package as well as sport package but I've found some X5's without the sport package.
Would I be better off just getting a nav package and adding 20" wheels to complete the package?
Thanks John

Johnny,

I am looking to upgrade to a new X5 and would be willing to sell mine. It is an 01 with just under 90K miles, topaz blue, nav, phone, cold weather package, 6pack cd player, xenon headlights, front and rear heated seats, front and side airbags, PDC, Hill desent assist

If you or anyone is interested, get back to me.

Marc

Well its your own opinion. The aftermarket nav systems dont fit the type of the car. If you can get a pic of an x5 with an aftermarket nav system in the front and it looks good ill change my mind. But so far all i have seen are shonky aftermarket nav systems that dont fit in right.

Also do the aftermarket nav systems tell you all the specs about the car like range, outside temp, consump??

I think it looks pretty good.. You other question is answered in this post as well. Keep in mind there is a newer version of the NAV with more options then the one in the post.

By the way, to the OP, unless the vehicle has a CD changer, the nav equipped X5s only come with a cassette player. (Who listens to those thesedays?!)
