Serp Belts ...??

My X5 went for regular maintenance service last month and my service advisor told me that my X5 needs serp belts to be replaced. He said three of them need to be replaced and the total cost including labor would be $390. Let me know if this is reasonable. Also i think it should have been included in maintenance warranty (which i still have). What do you guys think? What are Serp Belts and should they not be included in maint. warranty?

So, how much they should be? What exactly are these? And should they not be covered under maintenance warranty?

I believed that three belts cost me $100 in parts alone. I got mine installed for free when the water pump went out under warranty.

Igosal,
Here's the quote from Ext Maintenance section:

BMW Maintenance 6/100 – Coverage:
The BMW Maintenance Program covers factory recommended maintenance as listed in the owner's BMW Service
and Warranty Information Booklet that is provided in the vehicle. In addition, the replacement of THE
FOLLOWING ITEMS ONLY due to normal wear and tear are also covered: Brake linings (pads) and rotors (both
covered only when worn below limits as per BMW Technical Data Information); external drive belts; clutch; wiper ..."

external drive belts are listed, there.

I'd say 1 - 1.5 hours labor to replace them.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to talk to the stealer and let's see what does my SA says about this.
