Kewl X5 is on a distinguished road
Listen you guys--it is NOT just about the tires. I usually just watch you guys work it all out....but I figure I clear up some confusion....

The 19" wheel package on the X5 sports package comes with 19x9" wheels on the front and 19x10" wheels for the rear.

Yes, you can put 285/45-19 tires on the front 19x9" wheels. It won't rub. I have done it before, but I wouldn't recommend it because the sidewalls will protrude more due to the "skinnier" front wheels. The front wheels are 9" in width vs. the rear wheels which are 10" wide.

In my experience, there was more roll on the front tires and your X5 will tramline more as well. I have already switched back to 255/50-19 for the fronts and 285/45-19 for the rears. It drives much better.

Now, the 20" wheel package works, because they have different width wheels as well (the 20" fronts are wider than the 19" fronts).
