Navigation Question

Hey everyone. I just purchased a 2003 X5. It has the navagation system but for some reason it seems to not be working correctly.

When I start the car the nav lights up and goes to the "welcome/warning screen that you have to press accept to contine" but it wont go past that screen at all.

None of the buttons work besides the bottom left one which when I spin it, it controls the volume for the radio (which I can only change the station using the steering wheel).

Does anyone have any ideas of what would cause the nav to not work? Thank you very much. I thought I would give you guys a try before I bring it to the dealer and spend a lot!!

hey, thanks for the reply. it seems like there is no disc in the back. i thought without the disc you could still utilize the thing like the radio.. just not the navigation. is there any other way to reset it?

I just got an 03 X5 with nav and thought I had a similar problem at first. I was amazed to find that BMW doesnt use a touch screen like I had in my 03 Lincoln LS. Anyway, how are you clicking accept? You have to push in on the right dial to "click" accept. Is that what you are trying and isn't working?

Mine didnt come with the Nav DVD either. I just went back to the dealer today and they gave me one.

and since we're on the topic, I'm also surprised with the low quality voice instruction. It sounds as though the nav system is using a text to speach synthisizer to give verbal instructions. The voice in my Lincoln LS sounded much better, no weird robot sounding elements to the pronounciation, etc. Now I wish I had chosen the other X5 on the lot with Xenon over the nav. Oh well, live and learn.

Now that you ask, I don't remember. I believe it did and then it told me the Nav DVD/CD was not inserted. I'll be heading out soon and will remove the DVD and check for ya and post back later.
