Bluetooth Retrofit & Coding

Hi everyone,

Im ordering the parts to retrofit bluetooth, the BMW instructions say the car must be coded afterwards, why is that? Is this expensive? Wont the bluetooth work without the car being coded?

Cheers guys,

JJ

Needed to tie the car computer modules to the retro fitted module. Costdepends on dealer and I don't think (but don't actually know never having done it) it will work correctly without coding. I know my new LKM had to be coded after it was replaced. It took over 16 hours tied to the BMW computer to get it working. I was under CPO so no charge that time.
Cheers.

Re-coding is not always necessary. If your vehicle already has BMW Assist installed, then your bluetooth kit will probably work okay as is. depends on your model year, equip. pkg., etc.
