Rear Wiper question

Hi all,

well just want to know what is the best fit for rear wipers on the X5, I had one replaced by the dealor and that was not cleaning the rear glass properly so thought might have been worn out, went to advance autos and got a set as to the specs on their machine made by bosch I think and they do the same, what happens is it seems the rubber just touches the lower half of the screena nd cleans that, is there something I am missing here

tried to look up in the manual and could not find specs, will try Bosch Icons, wonder what arm would be used, as maybe thats the issue as the dealor might have put a regular arm not suppose to be on this car.

Mine was doing the same. There were two problems, one was old wiper rubber and the second was that the support arm was binding. I replaced just the wiper insert with a new one from the dealer and then lubed the hinge that allows pressure against the glass. I hit it with Wurth HHS 2000 which is a very stable grease with high penetration power (it starts out as a spray liquid) It now moves very smoothly and can now evenly place pressure against the glass. The glass now gets wiped smoothly and evenly.

autozone, yes - but you may have to ask where they put them as they are not with the other wipers they stock - also, if you have an early model X5, you will have to replace the rear wiper arm with a new metal "hook" arm to accept today's wipers

The best solution... REAR WIPER DELETE! I did it as well as many other members on this site. The X looks so clean without it!
