Was wondering if someone of you guys have this issue. I have noticed that the shifter light stay's on that illuminate the (P R N D 1 2 3). So I unplug the connector and plug it back in and still stay's on. I check the fuse box and could not find any blown fuse at all. Is there a some sort of a relay or fuse somewhere else? Appreciate any feed back Bing |

It's not your shifter light that's draining your battery - the X5 is an electrical hog - you really want to get into the habit of turning everything off before turning off the ignition - another thing to check for is if you have the auxiliary venting coming on - also, in early models, the a/c final stage resistor keeps feeding juice to the a/c fan even when the ignition is off - the thing is, the X5 is really never completely "off", which makes it manditory to use the BMW charger if you are not using the X5 for more than a week
IMHO, it also sucks that there is no voltage gauge, (or oil pressure)

The led light on the shifter will not drain your battery, it doesn't take too much juice to light it, if your battery is old it might be time for a new one, no biggie, get yourself one from Autozone or some other place other than the dealer, it will be much cheaper for you.

It's a year old battery from Autozone. I brought it in and still have green light and all. I will bring it back there and they can run a diagnostic for free to determine where or what causing the drain. Thanks Bing |

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...y-drain-2.html It's very easy to test your draw at "sleep", but you'll need a good multimeter and a couple of hours of spare time. It's well worth it - my battery is now two months old and the draw during "sleep" is only 27mA - starts fine every time!
