EGR bypass valve

Hi all

I have searched around and havn't really got an answer

Has anybody fitted one of these bypass valves

Did you notice a difference?

The reason i'm asking as my 2006, 30d, 30K has just had a service and the fault code for the egr valve has come up we've cleared the fault code and put some forte advanced diesel in the tank

I was thinking of taking the valve off and cleaning it out but then spotted a bypass valve on fleaby and wondered if it was worth it

thanks in advanve

No.!Just clean it the EGR valve ,disconnect the vacuum pipe and block it.This would be the same as fitting an EGR valve or EGR POWER PIPE KIT ,as these are also known.
Can you post the link to Ebay?

Have a look at this thread. You will find all your answers here

Thanks for the info

Do you block the vacum pipe

and what about the one on the valve

do you remove the whole egr valve to clean i take it is the one on the front of the inlet manifold front of the engine bay

thanks in advance

Hi Stuart,
You just need to block the vacuum pipe (screw in athreaded bolt for a good seal)..as this is the only one that is connected to cars vacuum system.
No need to block the one on the EGR valve as it doesnt do anything.

The EGR valve is a simple rod with a a cover on the end(looks very much like an engines inlet valve),so there shouldnt be much to clean .except around the sealing cover that open/closes to let in the exhausts gases.
Its only the EGR valve on the inlet manifold that you need to remove.

Just had a look at that item number. Its rubbish for 2 reasons. Its made of stainless steel instead of aluminium(stainless keeps the heat ,as well as being much cheaper to weld) and also that bead on the end of the pipe doesnt look high enough to hold the inlet pipe from the intercooler. Also I am not too keen on the gasket!Looks like its made of cork!
You can compare the quality of the aluminium kit I sell to the Ebay one .
The kit is useful also because you can connect a boost gauge to it.
