Xenon??

Quick one for anyone here. I am after the 'K' Heat rating of the 'blueish' xenon lights that i see on the BMW X5? I called BMW, they didn't have a clue. Wondered if someone here mite know? I understand that anything over 10000k is illegal, yet they seem to look similar to those as fitted in the X5. Thanks. Hi btw.

Really? All of them? Looking at the rating pictures they seem alot more blue than that. Thanx.

technically, when you stand right in front of them, they're "white." from a farther stand point, the projector lense gives them a blue tint. or something like that...

it's really only an observation i've made. some cars that do not have xenons that have projector beams...from far away, they look like xenons (like from when the car fluctuates up and down), but when they come closer, they are obviously not. so my conjecture is that it is the lense.

anyway...no problem...anytime

X5 uses 4100K-4300K (perfect white) Osram or Philips D2S bulbs, projector lens will shift the color and make it slightly blue.

The 4000 range is correct. Here's is a great article listed on the main page. It gives a great overview of how HID works and what makes the different colors. The bulbs used in the X5s create a perfect white light, but the projectors are what cause the blue edges near the edge of the light. Good read, I recommend it. http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html

what about the e70, when you turn the xenon lights on, they are very blue, but after about 5 seconds, they become xenon white.
why are they a different color to start with?
