X5 battery location

Anyone feel the stupidity of the battery location of the X5? You need to tire yourself removing tons of things before accessing the battery!!! ????

I don't see the problem. It is a five year battery, maintenance free. It is protected from the elements, unlike when it is mounted under the hood. There are positive and negative terminal connection points located under the hood, so there is no need to get to it in between the five year replacement interval.

true...but last week when my battery didn't have enough energy to turn on the engine, it wasn't that simple.

i was parked head-in in my garage...

well...unfortunately i didn't have jumper cables long enough to reach the outside to another car.

i called BMW roadside assistance and the guy had to take out the rear spare tire to reach the terminals in the back...

...and it didn't seem like fun...although it was interesting for me

XN,
You couldn't pop the hood and attach jumpers or charger cables
from either side of car, to the underhood contact points?

And, JCL is right on as to why it's "there". Not handy, but
a good spot, design-wise, imo.
