ATF Oil Container?

Hello again, I have a question. What is that container next to the oil filter just left of it. I have a 4.4 X5 01... The reason why I'm asking is because I opened it up today to see what's inside and I noticed a red oil, like power steering fluid, it was very low and wondered if this is normal ? Thanks...

Also it says on the cap, ATF OIL ......

No experience with a 4.4 engine bay, but there should be min/max marks on the resevoir. If it's way low, top it off and see if it vanishes again. If it does, you know what's up..

On the container, there should be min/max marks inscribed on it.

You have to look INSIDE the container. It can be diffecult to see, sometimes I need to shine a flashlight inside. There should be a line/grove going around the inside.
