I'd take the axle to a machine shop, they should be able to fix it.

In the spirit of sharing information. I made a number of calls only to be told that the various shops didn't do it (rethreading) and didn't know anyone who did. I decided to call a local repair shop (Eurosport in Plano) and thankfully they referred me to a shop they use. The shop is Drive Shaft King of Dallas and besides having fantastic customer service they handle any CV and drive shaft made. I showed up on my lunch hour and Dave, the manager, took me on to the shop floor where he directed one of the guys to stop what he was doing and rethread my CV. The guy did as he was asked and 10 minutes later I was walking out with a usable CV. A side note is that all they wanted was $5 dollars but I said no and gave them $20 saying that I'd buy Dave and his worker lunch. Afterall, bimmer guys have a rep to live up to.
