Low speed idle vibration

I took my X5 in for service and they replace the variable value timing motor to cure the problem I was having with a vibration at idle.

Can you describe the problem? I notice that my 4.4 has this weird "purring" vibration when idling at a stop while in drive with my foot on the brake. No movement on the tach...just a very pronounced, rhythmic vibration. Is that the issue you had resolved?

Sounds like the same thing, it only happened with the a/c off.

Mine has this kind of thing going on but only during the first five minutes of driving after setting all night. Never have found the cause but it seems like something is running until it's no longer needed.

I do seem to notice it only in the morning on my drive to work, but I know it is happening at least 15 minutes into the drive. I'll see if it is still there on my drive home.

Just getting it back in the morning, I will let the group know in a few days. But I am hopeful, the dealer did hear/see the problem and now claims it is fixed. The service rep for this visit really try to understand the problem (this time) and he seemed more knowledgeable. In the past the service rep was a woman (not that should matter).

My X5 was made in July 2005.

I still have a transmission problem that they don't understand. When going up small hill at around 30 to 40 MPH the car sometimes lugs and should down shift. Does anyone else have this problem? They reprogrammed the trans last year (last spring) and claim that the software is up to date yet I thought that a new software update came out last fall?

You don't have the v.23 version do you? Also Dinan is going to have
nice tranny upgrade for us soon that is supposed to improve
on the overall performance. Get the v.23 first. imho.
