That's cold! We get close to that once or twice a winter here but it's never sustained.

Almost balmy out today...eh?

Yeah, everyone thinks it's impossible to survive cold temps like that, but they also seem to think we stand out in cold for hours at a time when it's -40 C or -40 F... Hell, I go from a heated house to a heated garage to a heated X5 to heated underground parking to my heated office (where I make sure I've got a nice hot Starbucks latte). The only time I feel the cold is when I open the car window to swipe my security pass!!

What are you talking about? I've been here for a decade and it's never come close. Now Winnipeg is a different story. I lived there for a bit, and one day I was driving outside the city and watching the thermometer go down, down, down.... until it hit -50, then it went blank!!!!

Yikes, we haven't even matched that with the wind chill.

Btw, it's pretty cool that your drl's are on with your parking and fog lights. How does that work?

If you have DRLs activated, then turn the switch to parking lights and hit the foglight switch. It was do-able in my X3 for the short time we had DRLs activated (my dad made them do it by mistake; I asked them to turn it off at the next visit).

Lol I thought the -1F I had in Montreal + wind was a bit chilly. I should experience this -40F................

Damn, I'm impressed anybody was able to see the polar bear!

Everyone can rest assured that the X5 is tucked into its warm, toasty garage for the night. This is its first winter here, my X5 used to live in California, but it handles the cold just fine. Although I'm sure that it never thought it would have to put up with this weather when it got the cold weather pkg installed in it back at the factory!!!

There was a request earlier on this thread for a snowmachine pic. I'll post some pics on the forum when I get back from Hawaii in a week, look for them after the 5th....
Did I mention I'm going to Hawaii for a week?
