Angel Eyes. Lenses In Or Out?

I am fitting a set of angel eyes to my 2001 4.4, i have did a search on the site about fitting them and i just wondered if it would look better with the lenses left out or do i need them in so the ring can be mounted to them? if someone could post a picture of a xenon lamp with after market angel eyes with the lenses left out i would be very gratefull.
