Dietz TV in motion for X5 - issues

For anyone who is thinking about installing the Dietz Tv in Motion cable in there X5, I did and had some issues with sluggish takeoff and transmission not kicking down when required. My X5 has the analogue& digital tuner.

The cable does work and its plug and play which in itself is great, however I then encountered times when the car was slow to takeoff and felt like it was dragging its arse in 3rd gear (crawling along) as if the fuel delivery was throttled back and suddenly it would come on and your head would snap back as a result - totally unacceptable. I didnt suspect the cable at this stage just thought it was another shitty BMW tranny.

After a few weeks of the annoying performance I took it to the dealer who reset the adaptions but on the way home the issues returned. Then i got really upset and thought about what the problem could be.

I knew the tranny was ok because even in manual mode and 1st gear selected it didnt take off as quick when i got it new.

I decided to remove the cable because i was suspect about the voltages in the car circuitry and that this maybe affecting the fuel system etc. I knew the cable was responsible for the fuel consumption on the NAV screen showing up as 0.0 sometimes and then after a while the actual figure would appear. This would occur on Trip 1 and Trip 2 fuel consumption display in alternate fashion.

As soon as i removed the cable and drove around i couldnt replicate the problems. The car drove like it was when i got it brand new and the takeoff is quick and the original performance is back !. I now pull away from traffic with ease without it sounding like the tranny is slurring or slipping. Also the issue with the fuel consumption displays has disappeared.

I wont be reinstalling the cable which is a shame cause i did enjoy the TV staying on whilst driving (the blue screen sucks) - also it was a pain the the arse to get to the TV module. I am wondering how the cable works and how it could have had the effect I experienced.
