Hey fella's, I picked up my Lemans

Blue 4.8is right before Xmas, and it's been doing dual duty (fun car, commuter car) while I wait for delivery of the GT3 (4 weeks out or so).

The X5 is great, but I do have a few complaints. Little too much compression damping makes for less than stellar small bump compliance. Could be the air springs. Tranny is a little lethargic at times, as in a pause from a dead stop. I sprung an oil leak, so it's going in for service.

On the positive side, car looks great, sounds great, and drives pretty good for what it is, an SUV. It is *very* surefooted, even in foul weather (freezing rain, downpours). The all black interior except for the light grayish leather is great, the leather making a nice contrast.

Despite the complaints (no car is perfect), I think it's a keeper as it does its job well: the daily commute, hauling kids and/or dogs on occasion, while not being a mind numbing SUV experience like my wife's Lexus. I'll probably do some occasional towing as well.

Since I plan to hold onto the car, I went ahead and had Supersprint exhaust installed, picked it up yesterday. It sounds GREAT! Anyone know how the tone changes over time? I'm hoping it doesn't get too much louder b/c it's just about perfect now.

Are you picking up the GT3 in Germany? Did you consider the GT3 RS?

Congrats on the X5!!!

Thanks for the warm (second) welcome!

I'll get some pics of the car and post them. In a prior thread, I posted some pics of the Ferrari. The ltw is still at Bimmerworld completing its transformation. It was owned by Seth Thomas, who races World Challenge for Bimmerworld.

As for the GT3, no on the Euro delivery. No time really. When the kids are older, I plan to eventually do a euro delivery since it's doubtful this GT3 will be the last Porsche I'd order.

Yeah, RS, I want one. Bad. But, they are tough to get w/ only 229 coming to the US. I was fortunate to get an early GT3 allocation, but keep working on getting one.

I posted pics of the Fcar here, as well as a photoshopped pic of the car I that is awaiting the trip across the pond.
