At the Stealer...

I went to the dealership today and so I thought I would share my experience. I made an appointment because I had the check engine soon light come on and also had some stalling. When I went to drop off my car, I mentioned to the service advisor that my brakes were grinding and continuously squealing. About 4 hours later I get a call from the dealership. The check engine light was nothing more than the gas cap, and the stalling was a one time deal. However, they found that both CV boots had leaked down and had gotten into the brakes causing the grinding and squealing. I was told, that any longer and the leaking of the CV boots would have destroyed my axles?!?! Anyways, I had to pay $600 for new CV boots, and I had to pay for new front pads+rotors. Not to mention the stupid $50 diagnostic fee.

In the end I was out $1330 for all the work. At least I got a complimentary wash.

Wow glad ya got it fixed. Btw are you still under warranty?

I have a CPO warranty. But I still have to pay all these copays. The CPO warranty does not seem to cover anything. Im looking to get rid of the X within the next year.

I am looking at hatchbacks. Im looking at VW gti, Audi A3, and hopefully in a year 1 series. However, I am also looking at getting a hybrid. I have some experience with hybrids, and I enjoy them.

So, your going from a X, to a 1 series.

Replacing a SUV with a sub-compact.....well...you'll save on gas.

Sorry about your troubles, that really sucks! After reading many posts like yours, it seems that when it comes to BMW, leasing might be the way to go.

all those things are covered under the maintenance warranty

Sounds to me like the dealer did their job.
