Where to buy an uncut key for X5?
![]() Im using the other one that came with the car now and I ask the dealer and it cost over 150 dollars for a new key... so I was wondering if I could get a cheaper one somewhere else... |

No. You have to go to the dealer.

Just went thru getting a new key myself. My understanding is that you'll have a very hard time getting one anywhere else except dealer. $150 plus tax is about right.

The dealer will want your car registration or some other proof of ownership.

Any BMW dealer should be able to assist. You won't get it right away, the spares for every vehicle are stored somewhere in a central location and will be shipped to the dealer by BMW.

its not the key itself that costs so much, they have to program the key to the car and they charge for that.
