BT Microphone Installation
I have a 2006 X5 and I recently installed a Bluetooth Module. After the installation was complete I realized that my X5 does not have a microphone. So I ordered one and just got it. Now I realize that my X5 is not prewired for the microphone (it was prewired for Bluetooth though). I do not understand how this works. I have just on 5 pin white connector in the overhead console and it does not fit the microphone. I have a garage door opener, motion sensor that have smaller hook up jacks, but I am sure that there is none for microphone. Someone please help. Thanks |

it's there, you just have to look. On mine I had to remove the sun visor clip on the driver's side and partially pull down the headliner. It was at the 12 o'clock position over the steering wheel.
keep looking

How do you remove the headliner? Some tips would be very useful.
Thanks |

Thanks
UCrewX5,
You were right, the wire for Microphone was tucked away on the driver side. I tried to feel under the headliner is there are any open wires, and I felt an insulation tape. BMW does not use insulation tapes for its wiring, so that raised red flags for me and when I flashed a torch there was the microphone connector taped to the rest of the wires. So I managed to take the tape off and take the connector and connect the microphone. Thanks for you help. |
