New user/X5 owner that needs some advice!!

I have just recently become a member of the site and think its great!! I just picked up an 2003 X5 3.0i from my manager at work who was just going to turn it back in after his lease was up. It was his wifes and she only put 28K miles on it!! All I needed to do was pay the 24K residual that he owed. WHAT I DEAL!!! However, it came with the 17 inch rims and dinky 3.0 exhaust. (not to offend, I just dont like look).

WANT TO CHANGE RIMS AND Exhaust TIPS:

RIMS:
I have been looking on here and have talked to a few of you about getting 20" 87's. I went to BMW today and the price they wanted to charge is just crazy!! I have been looking into replicas and have been trying to find a used set. Any thoughts on where to get a good set of replicas?

Exhaust:

Not sure if I need to change just the tips, the muffler, or the whole exhaust system to get the look of the 4.6 or 4.8. I really dont need the performance aspect, I just like the look.

Sorry so long.... Any thoughts would be appreciated!!! Thanks and I look forward to chatting with all of you.

They make tips out there that you can just slip over your factory exhaust tips.

Here are those tips on a 3.0i.

Driver X5,

Yes, but on the 3.0 they point downwards. Are those the tips doing that or is that part of the muffler? I looked underneath and cant tell if they are just the tips or the tip coming out of the muffler is bent like that.
Thannks for you response!!!

So your X5 came with chick wheels. You can get the replica wheels from ebay or Lakeshore if you want to save money. Check out the Tirerack forum as well.

Tose are just the tips. They are not mufflers. They slide right over your stock, they will point straight, not downwards. I think there are other tips that you can buy that are similar, however you will need to get them welded on. These you can remove at any time. I have not tried them personally.

geta pair of 4.4 or 4.6 tips, whichever your preference and have a place weld them on. Oem tips are great but will run about 200. eurotech has some nice stock twenties that are replicas. no offense but you should check out on ebay all of the different replicas that are made. happy shopping!

i have the X5 3.0i ,and they came with those chome oval tips, as i take a closer looks, yes it seems like they cut the pipe just enought to weld on the tips...and they did a great job straight and all. And the 87's too.
