Mods?

Coming from the Porsche world I have on both my cars done a lot of mods-
suspension- Light wieght flywheels and RS clutches-- seats, etc. whats available for the 4.8iS? I dont have to have them but I was just wondering. The car rides great and handles well. Accelleration is nice sounds great but just curious.
havent been able to find a whole lot on Dinan or finding out who else is out there. Thanks again guys.

it could use some camber plates... at the least, remove the camber pin in the strut hat and give yourself some more negative camber to offset the rear a bit...

the non adjustable front models have plates from dinan and rogue... i don't think the 4.8is has one yet tho...

other mods that i would consider worthwhile for me would be brembos and the full electronic interior goodies (dice, inovision, etc)

The most popular mod would be a new exhaust system. The Eisenmann Race Exhaust might be right for a performance minded individual like yourself. They also offer a toned down Sport version.

I put 30mm spacers on my rear wheels. I love the look. The stock width is just too narrow for my lies. Check under my posts or serch for before and after pics of my X with the spacers.

You may want to purchase the BMW running boards. They have a great look to them. They really finish off the look of the sides of the X.

Superchip offers a chip for the 4.8. The power increase does not seem worth the $1,500:

The increase for the 4.6is is much greater. Supposedly 27hp....

As far as Cold Air Intakes go read my post regarding them and let me know if you have any questions about the various ones offered. I do not love anything currently out there.

Lowering is also quite a popular mod. Personally I like my X with a bit of height but there are some great looking X5's on this site that have been lowered.

Tell you what you need.... a Brembo Big Brake Kit! Quite costly at $4,500 but damn it looks great!! They are somewhere on my X5 "someday" wishlist!!

Good luck with the X!! When are you going to get either the GT3 RS or the 07 Twin Turbo??? Two quite badass cars! They are also on my wishlist!!

Haya I was thinking of the brakes on both Bimmers but didnt think of the inovision-have thought about the Dice for the Ipod though. Just love this for a daily driver though-this is too much fun.

2002 NO RS OR 07 TT on my lists. the RS is too hard to come by now and after what I heard the stealers were getting for them it made me sick
Now I am hearing the RS is going to come out for 08. Thats going to piss off alot of people. I came from a TT to a GT3 and dont think I will go
back. My GT3 may be the last drivers car Porsche makes No PASM no Traction control no Nav no Sunroof. I may just keep it for a while and
while I am having so much fun in the X and my wifes 335 I see no reason to replace the GT3 right now. Great suggestions on the X though.
I will look into your threads and see whats shaking.

We have our Speed Innovation software available which is a complete ECU retune that recalibrates a variety of parameters including intake timing, throttle maps, torque maps, top speed limiter and rev limiters to give the engine better response throughout the entire range. With our software for the 4.8, you are looking at a 21hp/21TQ gain on 91OCT or a 29HP/26TQ gain on 93OCT. Pricing is normally $749 but we offer an X5World member discount for $710.

Don't get me wrong, the GT3 is an amazing car. It is how a Porsche should be... with no back seats!! Nice brakes by the way!!

Here is a pic of my 2001 Carrera 4. Sold it to a buddy two years ago. Tech Art Race exhaust, spacers all the way around, Tech Art aluminum pedals, carbon fiber sports seats, navigation, silver console. back then the GT3 was not offered for sale in the US so I made mine look just like the GT3!

The spacers really gave it an aggresive, wide stance.

If you have the resources, put on a supercharger, intake, exhaust w/upgraded software and then if you really want to have fun get a SMG II paddle shift steering wheel, it's a whole new experience!
