Angry Share the problems of my X5 3.0

My X5 3.0 is manufactory on 2001 and I got the car on 2002 in Hong Kong.

The following are the problem from 2002 to now.

1. (2002') The rear A/C exhaust too noise. After complaint four times, HK dealer replace a new one, but the problem have not been fixed, just only limited.

2. (2002') Suddenly no battery, after startup my car and run a period, it look OK. Go back to dealer request to check, they alway said no problem. From time to time, check up over three time, they replace the battery.

3. (2002') Suddenly the "Check engine" display on indicator, go back to dealer. They said there have no any problem, just reset the computer.

4. (2003') Suddenly the key no function (can't open the door), call dealer for emergency, need to toll the car to service center, reset the computer, can't found the reason.

5. (2004') Suddenly no A/C, even all lights are on. After power off and re-start the car, have a/c. Go back to check, can't find the reason.

6. (2004') The left signal lights flashed very fast but sometime normal, go back to check, they said no problem.

7. (2005' No warrenty, need pay) The both side rear window have some noise and one suddenly can't go up (rainy day), go back to check, they said the problem is the regulator. There have a plastic wheel to control the metal wire to lift up and down the window, but that wheels may have some damage. I said the rear window only open a few time so far, why the front one have no problem. They said they don't know and I need to pay for replace.

8. (2005') Suddenly, rain sensor; wiper speed control; auto light have no function. Go back to check. They said the rain sesor have a problem and need to replace and also found that the windscreen have some bubble inside it and it will affect the rain sensor's function, also affect the auto light and wipper speed. I'm so angry.

I think I maybe a unlucky guys and I know there have some mirror problem for a car. But the above should not be found on a car costed HK$600K or USD77K.

I hope any X5 owner can list out their problem, so we can sent some letter to BMW for compensate somethings.

I have a 2002 X5 but have only had a couple of the same problems as you:

A) the window regulators...had one replaced under warranty
B) the fast blinking blinker. it blinks fast when it is burnt out (either the bulb or the socket). I've had 4 bulbs and sockets replaced on mine over the last year.

Your warranty probably ran out so yes, they will charge you for fixing these items now. Not sure what BMW will do for you if you write a letter

the traffic light flashing problem is to do with the light bulb. I have the same problem with my X in HK. I found that the bulb wasn't bad, it is just the contact with the socket. you can do it DIY.
My X also has the noisy rear a/c issue. I thought it is normal. any comment?

Hi

I understand the problem is caused by either light bulb or socket contact, but I want to point out that the performance for the dealer.

The noisy rear a/c have been caused by the inside motor, the HK dealer will be replace for you but i think you need to push them. I alway said "My friend owned same model and already replaced". Although my X have been replaced, the noise is still but already elimitated and acceaptable now (better than nothing). Hope they can do that for yours.

This is a very common problem.

The window regulator problem is usually discovered when one finds a window completely lowered without them using the switch. One of mine was discovered after I had parked the car and came out after several hours. The window was down. Another was discovered when I lowered it and it would not go back up. My third one was discovered when I heard a loud "pop" sound and the window dropped. This was while I was driving.

The only early detection might be if you hear a "pop" or other unnatural sound. I think I heard such a sound the night my third regulator failed. The window dropped about twenty minutes later.

Wipper issues!

My 2009 X5 has the normal parking brake issue, and now the wipers do not work in delay mode. They work other wise. I have the rain sensor on mine, but it doesn't seem to work either. When I turn the knob on the delay it will do a one wipe when it's turned all the way up.

Any suggestions?
