Odometer Rollback?

I'm wondering if I have a problem...

I used carsoft to check the chassis number and total mileage on my 2001 4.4. The odometer shows 69,237, but the LCM module shows 111,425...a difference of 42,188 for those who may be math challegened.

I purchased my X in July and it was certified that the odometer was correct. Should I:

1. Bite the bullet and pay the dealer to verify my findings

2. Press on and live with the unkown

3. Some other option that I have not considered

If your odometer has been tampered with, a small red dot should be lit right next to the mileage.

I saw that information in a PDF posted elsewhere about driver info. I don't have a Dot on the cluster, so I'm hoping for the best

111,425 just happens to be 69,237 miles expressed in Kilometres. Looks like the LCM module is metric, most of the BMW systems are metric and only convert to miles etc for display purposes.

69,237 miles = 111,426.151 kilometers

if it was tampered, the dot would appear next to where the km and mls indicator is

I tried to do the conversion...clearly blew the first attempt...so add me to the list of the math challenged.

Makes me feel a lot better.

As always X5world members are the heat.

I used a program called Carsoft. It reads codes, erases codes, and allows programing.

I've yet to understand why the public ed system in the US doesn't do metric along with standard measurements from the jump with grade school children. Then we could eventually phase out "standard".
