Uh-Oh...Strange Clicking Sounds

i was driving my car on the freeway today, and something strange started to happen. when, and only when, the turn signals are on, turning the steering wheel will yield in clicks at a certain position in the steering wheel revolution. when the turn signal is not on, then these clicks don't sound

what do you guys think it can be? i tried searching for this topic, but found nothing specific to this

This could mean that your cv boots are bad, and that it is affecting the axles. I would have your dealership or mechanic check it out. My dealership found two torn CV boots on my car, but could not believe that I did not have any clicking sounds. (This is what usually occurs.)

Are you talking about the latching that causes the turn signal to turn off automatically when you bring the steering wheel back towards center?

no, it's not the latches...

when the turn signal is on, the steering wheel makes clicks when turning, but it doesn't affect the turn signals

what about when the hazards are on?

On most cars, if a light is out somewhere, the signal will rapidly flash to show you that you have a problem.....maybe the "clicking" means something more serious?

UPDATE: the clicking sound is in the steering column. when i put my hand near the base of the signal stalk, i can feel a tiny vibration there. still only heard when the turn signal is on.
