VVT Valve Question related to Trans Fail Safe

Anyone familiar with the VVT having issues where it would cause the vehicle to miss fire and then cause the trans to slip and get stuck in one gear. BMW told the dealer to take off my valve covers and check the linkage on the valve train to verify the part number on the rocker assembly. If these part numbers don't fall into a specific sequence thay need to replace them. So according to BMW my trans Slip, Stick and Trans Fail Safe might be because of a miss fire related to the VVT

T, same or similar problem. Thought to be tranny but vvt's were both replaced and now running much smoother so far. What year car? Yes VVT's control valve timing and can cause your problem. They also offered to replace the heads if this doesn't work.

update
Finally got the car back after 13 days. Here is what they wrote:

"Test drove car and was able to verify rough running and hesitation.
Check for FC and no faults. puma case sent 8985830. Told to
unplug VVT sensors and drive. Car bucked at 1700 rpm. Puma case sent.
Told to start engine with VVT sensors unplugged, to then unplug VVT
sensors and plug back in. This would show us if both sensors were working together when we see if both motors went to default like they should.
At restart both motors went to 9.05mm. Sent case back and told to replace both VVT motors. Car ran smooth after rplacement."

Replaced both Valvetronic motors.
Car runs smoother now and they did v.25 upgrade also. Not done testing it out yet, but it is at least 50% better at this point.

Wow head replacement! And yours being a 2006! I also now think that the BUMP where it feels like a rear end is related to the Miss Fire where the car stalls and then slams into gear aftet the slip.
