4.8is **CLUNK**
Every once in a while, when I hard downshift, the X makes a very loud *CLUNK* noise, almost like the engine is going to fall out.. Well, maybe not like the engine is going to fall out but you get the idea.. Is this normal, common?? I also notice I get another clunk sometimes in reverse when the wheel is cranked.. Occassionally in forward as well. I don't know if they are related CLUNKS... I assume the reverse/cranked wheel clunk is just part of the awd system or CV Joints or something but your opinions are appreciated. B

I do not get the first clunk you describe but i do get the second one. When i back up and turn the wheels it makes a loud clunk. I brought it to the dealer twice and they say they hear it but can not find what is causing it. So they can not fix it until BMW issues a TSB or some kind of recall on it.
Its bullcrap if you ask me.
