turn signal stalk

I have a question regarding the turn signal stalk.

There seems to be 2 levels. When you tap it lightly, it blinks once and when you push it harder and clicks, it will blink continuosly.

Some cars like Audi and MINI's have a feature such that when you tap the stalk lightly, they blink 3 times NOT 1 time. Can you program this in the X5?

The soft tap then the lights will blink 3 times is really useful on highways

Can't be programmed, it is a different turn signal switch. It is on all the new BMWs, not just the E70. Heck, it is even on the new Focus (National Rent-A-Car). It does take some getting used to, some like it and others don't. I like it myself.

Would be interesting to see if you could change it out though.

This feature is on the newer BMWs, ones based on newer technology starting with the 7-series, then the 5, 6, etc...

Interestingly, while you and I find it useful, the American magazines are complaining about how confusing it is. I guess they just live in the stone age when it comes to technology.

While the E53 may seem new, it is based largely off the E39 5-series, which came out back 10 years ago. Thus, the technology and software on a 2006 X5 is still not quite up to what you'd expect.
