snorkle? Intake sits pretty high so as long as it isn't under water your fairly safe.

Exhaust can be under water with no problems.

This is a correct statement but as you know if you stall with the exhaust submerged DO NOT attempt to restart. You will draw water into the cylinders and the engine will hydrolock and you will blow the engine. If you stall you will need to be pushed or pulled out.

I found out the hard way..... an M3 in two feet of flood water is a bad thing. Luckily insurance footed the $10,000 for a new engine..... The situation brought to mind the "Who's the U-Boat commander?" line from Risky Business!

The best way to naviagate water is slow and steady with a "bow wake" pushing the water in front of the vehicle and not over the hood. Always know how deep a stream is before crossing. The last thing you want to do with your X is find out the lil waterway you were crossing has a five foot deep hole in the middle!!!!!!

Axles can get wet if the zert fittings are raised abit I think landcruisers
have their grease fittings raised so the whole axle can go under without getting water into the diffs

Anyone in the MD area? If so, the Rockville Best Buy has a parking garage that floods LIKE CRAZY. It went up to my fog lights, pretty cool seeing the X in there. The cop that sits @ the BMW was cruising past and was laughing lol

And this is how you drive in water (from this thread). Lot of off-road pic threads if you search.

I went to the BMW Ultimate Driving Experience in 2000 when my dad bought an X5. We time trial raced 3's, the trans in one of them broke which was pretty funny. Anyway they did this test where they pitted a Jeep Grand Cherokee against the X5. The test was to drive up a 45 degree roller ramp. X5 Made it to the top, Jeep just stayed in place. Pretty dope but not sure what it proves hahaha.
