Thats perfect, PaulMiller is my dealer anyway. Did you actually give them the coupon, or just had to tell them you had it. If you still have one and I need it I'd definitely appreciate it!

One more question, when looking at the realoem for the 4.8 alu rb retrofit kit, it doesnt tell me how many rivets, bolts, clip etc... are needed. I am going to get extra rivets to be safe, but I ahve no idea about how many in total of all these fasteners are needed? Am I missing something or do you have any insight on this? Thanks!

I had the coupon with me but they never asked. Also the old guy with beard(I think his name is Dave) in parts dept was arguing on phone with me that I do not need the flared arches, but I told him that I need that anyway, so don't let him argue with you on that. I will try to find the coupon, although I don't think they care if you also pay at the time of order on phone, like I did. So you will be going there only to pickup.

Do get this rivet gun from your local NAPA store. As for rivets I picked up around 10 extra rivets of both kind, they are very cheap.

Hi Guys...

I've got an Alunimun Running Board Kit from Morristown BMW (NJ) last week.
I've got the package for very very good price. There price is better then Crevier BMW (at least RB)
You should talk or email to Part manager at Morristown BMW before you get there....
They were very nice people at the part department....

I am getting my 2002 4.6 next week and I want to do the running boards. I want to keep the flares as they are. I am still a bit confused after searching the site and reading about the running boards.

Do I just order part number 51-71-0-017-315?

Will I need different fender flares or can I use my stock ones?

If I can use the stock ones do they need to be removed as the installation PDF shows?

Do the old rivets need to be drilled out or do they pop out?

Can I use my regular rivet gun or do you guys suggest the plastic rivet gun?

Apprecite the info!!!!!!!!

First thing, your stock arches will not fit with the running board. I believe 4.6 flares are same as 4.8, which is flared arches. The arches which come with running board are flat(like the 3.0 or 4.4) and not flared. I still have the arches which came with r/b in the box and I had to buy the flared, and while at it I bought the front flared as well. You can either drill out plastic rivets cleverly or pull with a plier. the rivet gun suggested in this thread does make life easy and its worth it. You will realize when you do it.

"I still have the arches which came with r/b in the box and I had to buy the flared"

So they sell special flared arches for use with the running boards?

What do I get when I order 51-71-0-017-315? Everything I will need except the flared arches?

Anyone here use the non-flared arches on the 4.6? Curious how they look.

yes on both. You may need few extra rivets as they break and rivet gun. See this thread for details.

Sorry but I was always wondering if the kit comes with some rivets? Some people say yes and some people say it does not include any rivets.
