Hello everyone,
I want to install the Brushed Aluminum Running Board Part # 51710017315 to my 2005 X5 3.0i and I want to know beside the running board what else do I need to get to complete the installation? What other parts this running board came with? I just check the DIY install for the running board but he got the 4.8 and I think the body is different to the 3.0i. Do I need this Mud Flaps Part # (front) 82160004467, Part # (rear) 82160154724 and Glue kit 83190147369. How about Fender Flares ? I just want the installation to be simple if I can get away w/out the mud flaps anf the flares it would be better. Thanks

Everything you need comes in the kit. You didn't need mud flaps, fender flares or glue.

Most important part is the plastic rivet gun you get at an auto supply store. Do a search of the archives. I know I have posted the links to it before.
The info might also be in the writeup here on X5World. I installed myself and it took aboit 90 mins. Make sure to buy extra rivets. They are cheap, and they break easily!!

I second that from RANGERFAN on the plastic rivet gun. Believe me, you do not want to do this without that tool!! It could be quite painful without it, but with it, the install is very straight forward and the write-up provided by X5 World is what I used and it took me through every step.

I just installed the running boards on my X5. Check the NAPA store close to you and get the rivet gun as mentioned by Wuzin. You don't need flares if you don't have 4.8, save yourself some money. Good luck.
