2004 X5 4.4 vs 2000-2003 X5 4.4

Does anyone know the difference between 2000-2003 X5 and 2004..??
I purchased a 2004 X5 4.4 new instead of a 2003 because there were about 120 inprovements over the 2003. New engine and 6 speed tranmission Plus..??
Over the weekend I got into a argument with my son, a M5 owner. So can anyone help me out....

As I got - xDrive give you more traction and make decision faster.
And don't use brake pads to switch traction between the wheels...

Yeah pretty much on a high level, if you search the forum there was a great thread a couple months ago on this topic.

To be 100% my 02 X5 with just AWD could easily keep up with my friends 05 X5 in bad snow and slush. That could be because I have more experience driving in the snow then he does I don't know.

BTW how are you liking your 04 4.4? What wheels and tires do you have?
