Talking 4.6 Brake Caliper Swap - Brembo / Aftermarket Brake Owners

I have an odd proposition for anyone who has changed their stock 4.6is brakes for aftermarket brakes. If you sill have your stock calipers (front and rear) I would like to "borrow" them. What I want to do is powder coat mine. The problem is to do that I have to tear down the brakes, bring the calipers to the powder coater and then wait to get them back. That would be a lot of down time for my vehicle.

I need to have a 2nd set of 4.6is brake calipers to take them to the powder coater and have them ready when I do my brake job. What I propose is to have someone send me their brake calipers, I will have those powder coated for my use, install them on my X, take my "old" brake calipers have them powder coated the color of your choice and send them back to you. You could keep them for future use or sell them to someone.

I was thinking black might look better than red because the X5 calipers are not that great looking (like the Brembos)so the black will draw less attention. Thoughts?

I would be willing to pay all shipping charges. I think it is a fair deal and you benefit from getting your calipers powder coated!!!

No one??? I did contact one X5 member with Brembo but he got rid of his old brakes in a garage clean up.

Does anyone who has a spare set of 4.6 calipers think this is a bad idea for them or just too much hastle? If so contact me.

Andaya, good to hear from you! Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the calipers are different for the 4.4 and the 4.6is. I really want to replace my calipers with the same ones.

Kirk, I wasn't gonna tell em it was you!!!!! Quick delete your post!!

No problems mate!! Sometimes you just pick up a part that has been sitting in your garage and you say "why the hell am I keeping this??" and you toss it!!

I shall find a set of 4.6 calipers somewhere out there!!! Or borrow Ayanda's and do two brake jobs!!
