New member needs mod help!

Just picked up an 2001 X5 3.0 w/ 49,995mi on it. It is pretty much a basic model but I couldnt let a 01 with such low miles slip away from me w/a 20k price tag.

So first thing I have done is throw some 20's on her. I ordered a black shadow grill for her rhinoplasty and new smoked tail lights to giver her a brazilian ass job. Now the X5 is a NON sport (i think) and I would like to maybe make her handle better. Now i know most people will say lower it but I got this car because I wanted a smooth ride (daily driver OC to LA). How can I make her handle better than she already does with out sacrificing the smoothness.

Also it came with no Xenons, and my past 4 cars all had Xenons, so their is no way I am using halogen bulbs. So, where can I pick up some xenons for her without going to the stealership and giving them one of my kidneys? (and yes I've been looking on ebay)

I also plan to paint the car out and throw exhaust on it, 3.0 is just a small v6, I dont want her loud but i want to hear something come from the car? Anyone do dual magnaflows w/the resanators ON here??? Does it sound good? Deep?

The side markers on the quarter panels are killing me with the amber color, anyone know where I can picke up some smoked ones?? (tried ebay, no luck)

maintainence - I plan on changing spark plugs, oil change, and filter changes. Anything else that I should do????? (brakes are 90%) (tires new)

Any known problems I should look out for?
& yes I have read faq and lurked and serached ect. ect. for other stuff

I'm sure it did, but I drove the car for only 5min with the stock wheels and tires on.

I can tell it is a lot smoother going to 265/50/r20 & 295/45/r20 from whatever the stock setup was.

:xoutpost: Welcome! You will like your X. Keep a look out for the dreaded CV boot wear and tears. Those are a sure one to go. Window regulators are the next thing, but you will notice those when they break.

Also cool to know I have rear climate control. I thought the tint and rear vent were just standard. Guess I should RTFM.

If handling is what you are going for maybe some strut/sway bars. Read up on your water pump, and you should be changing you tranny fluid in the next 10k-20k
