Do the OEM "running boards" fit a 2003 4.6L? - Page 3

I has similar confusion before buying the running boards for my 4.4 - BMW should make a kit for with and withouth 4.6/4.8 flares. The reason the wheel well need to be changes is because of how the aluminum sits on it - they are grooved inside and have a different shape than the stock black plastic,

Good news is they are very easy to install - only took me hours

I've been on the phone with Morristown and they are just as confused as I am regarding these damn 4.6 fender flares. The p/n given in the link (a few replies back...) only gives the same p/n that supposedly comes with the running board kit - or so Morristown is telling me. The p/n's in question are these:

Rear left wheel arch: 51-71-7-051-035
and
Rear right wheel arch: 51-71-7-051-036

So do these arches come WITH the kit or not? I guess that is my question. And if they do, what p/n do I need for my 4.6?

Part #5 is the one in question. I do not know why BMW prices the kit as individual pieces for the 4.6 running boards.

Those do not come with the standard 3.0 / 4.4 running board kit:

You will also note that the frist scematic of the 4.6 kit shows the front wheel trim with the flares. You do not need to buy the flared front wheel trim. The standard front wheel trim that comes with the running bard kit will work.

I guess the tech on the phone was right. If you look at the kit for the 4.6 as individually priced yes it will include the part numbers you mentioned. But... then it will also include the price for the flared fron wheel trim.

The best way to do it is tell them you want to purchase the 3.0 / 4.4 running boards and then but the two flared wheel trim pieces. The more questions you ask them about that 4.6 kit the more confused they will get.

I do not even know if you could purchase all the bits for the 4.6 kit and then purchase non-flared front wheel trim. It does not show as a seperate Part Number on the 3.0 / 4.4 kit.....
