service engine soon

I have 61,500 miles on my 01 4.4. this morning I am driving her and notice the service engine soon light comes on. X seems to be running fine, what could it be?

If the SES light is still on take it to your local autozone parts store. They will check what's causing the SES light to come on. If it's running normal it may be a loose gas cap triggering the light.

If you can get a P code from the autozone or parts place that would help. It could be anything. Like your running on borrowed time with a 2001. Could be various intake or sensors. Here's a easy one that you can do with no problem, pull the plastic cover over the top of the engine, look at your oil sep hoses on the back side of the engine. I just replaced mine but I also received a SES light prior fixing it.

When it rains, it pours... I also just got this light on my 2003 4.6 with 37k miles. It came on last night, which is great timing since I already had an appointment for this morning. I will report back next week when they tell me what was wrong...
