Last April I had my Thermostat changed on the advise of my indy shop #1 (regret).

Now I've been told by a seperate Indy shop #2 (as I don't go to the previous any more) that the following codes were pulled and I was advised to changed my Thermostat out.

• 141 Electric fan activation
• 140 Map cooling
• 8D lamp Module faulty
• as well as right side valve cover is leaking onto the exhaust.

I took my car back to the Indy shop #1 that changed out the thermostat last April. They said that there was a code for the thermostat, but upon restarting the vehicle it went away. This was in direct contradiction to what I was told by indy shop #2, as they said a restart didn't correct the problem.

Since the part & labor have a year warranty from Shop #1, I have little time to figure out if I need a new thermostat.

Any advise?

I would say your options are:

1. Call it lesson learned and allow Shop#2 to repair and never go back to Shop#1 ever again.

2. Go back to Shop#1 and make them get it right for little or no charge. Although they could stand behind their first repair and try to charge you for something else they claim is "now" failed. That would be the easy and more profitable thing to do instead of accept responsibility for first job.

Things to consider: Do you want Shop#1 touching your vehicle again? How much patience do you have? What makes you sure that Shop#2 isn't similar to Shop#1?
