burning rubber smell

Yesterday when I parked the car after driving for about 25mns I could see a little bit of smoke coming from under the hood. When I opened the hood it smelt like burning rubber. I could see that the smoke was coming from somewhere on the left side (passenger side) of the engine under a bunch of hoses. I could not located the exact origin of the smoke though. The hoses I could see and check looked OK. I will have a better look today. Really wondering what that could be.

Alain, look for oil too..you may have yourself a busted oil-separator. The initial smell we had was burning rubber as well. What it was, was a combination of burning rubber and oil.

Vig, thanks a lot for the suggestion. What were the OBVIOUS symptoms of the oil separator issue beside the smell? What can I look at for better isolate if it is an oil separator issue?
